The rise of Pokemon Go has carved out an entire niche of people looking to profit from the augmented reality mobile game. For those cheating to earn a buck however, they are finding it increasingly difficult as Niantic has begun banning Pokemon Go cheaters. These bans now also include Twitch users who are streaming ways to cheat the system.

Twitch, like Niantic is now permanently banning Pokemon Go gamers for violating their Terms of Service. It’s yet another step in the process of weeding out players who are abusing the system by using GPS spoofs and other third party programs. It’s only to be expected due to the meteoric rise in popularity since the game’s launch.

It doesn’t mean that these cheaters are going away however. Due to the game’s immense popularity, there doesn’t seem to be any limit to people looking to capitalize. From lawsuits to bot applications, people are finding new ways to make money from Pokemon Go. Twitch seemed to be one of the last services standing which allowed cheaters to get paid to cheat Pokemon Go.

Twitch Statement Explains Banning Pokemon Go Cheaters

Twitch also released a statement regarding these recent bans. In the statement, Twitch outlined that streaming content on our services could not violate third-party user agreements. Unfortunately for cheaters, this also includes violation of rules enforced by the game developer or in this case Niantic.

Per Niantic’s Pokémon GO Trainer guidelines cheating is considered:

“…using modified or unofficial software; playing with multiple accounts (one account per player, please); sharing accounts; using tools or techniques to alter or falsify your location; or selling/trading accounts”

Twitch began banning Pokemon Go cheaters as of August 8th. Which lead to many Twitch broadcasters sharing content or showing how to cheat being struck down. Twitch made this announcement to ensure that broadcasters could take steps so that their content is not at risk, and it’s a step in the right direction.
