The augmented reality mobile game Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm, so it was only a matter of time before this happened. There have been several clones and ripoffs, as companies are trying their best to cash in on Pokemon Go’s tremendous success. As you can imagine, there’s quite a few attempts that range from bad to terrible. First reported through Reddit, this Pokemon Go bootleg game falls under the latter.

According to the original user, this footage above doesn’t include about 20 minutes of throwing the ball at this bug thing. If you thought that the map view would be equally as lame, you wouldn’t be wrong. Take a look at this hot garbage below.

Oh no

You’ll see a lot of the similar elements in gameplay, and they keep some of the terms like candy as well. Although the Pokemon Go bootleg has much of the same components, it’s easy to see just how much is really required to build a game like Pokemon Go. In fact seeing this game in action makes you appreciate Niantic’s efforts so far.

Pokemon Go isn’t perfect by any means, but it’s a far far cry from this poor knockoff. The really funny thing is, this Pokemon Go bootleg is fairly polished compared to some of the other poor attempts out there.

What this Pokemon Go bootleg shows us is that as long as Pokemon Go is popular, the attempts to profit from it will remain. These include people selling hacks, developers selling bots and even people filing lawsuits.
